Strategic Liaisons: Game-changing Conversations

Join colleagues for an evening of provocative conversation featuring special guests, Maureen SullivanPresident of the American Library Association and Deb Hunt2013 President of the Special Libraries Association.  They will be speaking about the key issues facing our professional associations and what is being done to address them.

Program
Professional associations have provided stability and focus for generations of librarians. They’ve helped shape and sustain our profession as it navigated epic transformations in technology, publishing, access and services. The continued value of our professional associations rests with their ability to envision the future and evolve.

So what might our associations look like 10 to 20 years from now? What forces are at work that could cause seismic shifts in our profession? And how are our associations preparing for them?

Our speakers will address key issues facing associations including:

• What will be required of tomorrow’s leaders?
• How will communities of practice impact our associations?
• What new mutually-beneficial opportunities exist for collaboration?
• What calculated risks should be taken to realize transformational change?
• How will critical thinking skills and innovation be cultivated across the profession?
• Have the stakes been raised for the profession’s future success?

This is a SLA Maryland Chapter signature event: sponsored by an exclusive group of companies which are defraying costs, seating is limited and the program is being promoted to all library, information service and knowledge management professionals across the country! If you remember our last Signature Event in 2010, we sold all 320 seats weeks before the event and unfortunately we had to turn people away. Don’t let that happen to you for this program!
